3 DIRECTIONS: WILD HIVE BEEKEEPING, BEE GUM BEEKEEPING AND FRAME HIVE BEEKEEPING. THIS IS EVIDENCED BY PRESERVED NOTES FROM ANCIENT TRAVELLERS AND BY ARCHAEOLOGICAL ARTIFACTS.

To protect the wild bees in Burzyan District of the Republic, a conservation area was established there in 1958 which was later transformed into the Shulgan-Tash State Natural Reserve.

THE ACIDITY OF THE BASHKIR HONEY IS RELATIVELY LOW, WHICH POSITIVELY AFFECTS THE ENZYMATIC PROCESSES IN IT AND INCREASES ITS BACTERICIDAL PROPERTIES.

Since 2001, Bashkir honey is included in the delivery list for Russian space training center Star City and in the daily diet for members of the International Space Station during their training.

Bashkortostan has been awarded the Grand Prix at the XXI APISLAVIA Congress in Kazakhstan. Also Republic won the gold medal in the category «Wax Products», silver medals in the category «Comb Honey» and «Monophlore Honey» and a bronze medal for the packaging design.

BASHKORTOSTAN IS ONE OF THE LEADING RUSSIAN REGIONS IN THE NUMBER OF BEE COLONIES, PRODUCTION OF COMMERCIAL HONEY AND RESEARCH ACTIVITIES IN THIS AREA. THE REPUBLIC PRODUCES OVER 12,000 TONS OF HONEY ANNUALLY, WHERE THE HALF OF IT IS A COMMERCIAL HONEY.

More than 300,000 beekepers in Russia have united under the Russian National Union of Beekeepers with its chairman Mr. Arnold Butov.

According to the Union's data, an average Russian citizen consumes about 720 grams of honey yearly.

We export over 1.5 mln tons of Bashkir honey and bee products, including 400 tons exported abroad (to the USA, China and European countries). The first specialized store selling Bashkir honey in China was opened in August 2014 in the city of Gongqingcheng. This year, a permanent 1 million US dollar contract was signed to deliver Bashkir honey to China.

The Republic proceeds with system measures to create honey cluster. The cluster will include educational institutions for apiarists and bee products manufacturing specialists, open-air apiary museum, bee products processing plant with capacity of 3,000 tons packaged honey per year, as well as demonstration apiary for breeding of Bashkir breed bees.

Honey cluster will be the basis for further development of beekeeping. There are 9,000 agricultural enterprises, large and small private farms in Bashkortostan that produce honey.

Philip McCabe:

"I have tasted many types of your honey. This a high-quality honey with a huge potential. As for the city and holding our Congress here, you have the infrastructure and everything necessary for it. We are very impressed, in general. I wish you good luck by the bidding and success in convincing the members of the Apimondia to vote

for your city."

THE REPUBLIC OF BASHKORTOSTAN HAS ABUNDANT EXPERIENCE IN HOSTING MAJOR INTERNATIONAL EVENTS WITH ITS STATE-OF-THE-ART CONGRESS INFRASTRUCTURE. ANNUALLY THE REGION HOLDS ABOUT 200 MAJOR EVENTS.
